Interactive online space for students adventuring into CALL 570: Introduction to CALL & Pedagogy.
An online environment for students enrolled in the Summer 2005 English Preparation for Translation & Interpretation (EPTI) Program.
In this workshop participants will learn how to motivate students and integrate technology using ready-made web templates to create interactive web reports. By the end of the session participants will have a completed sample web report to model for their own students, who can then create their own "multimedia reports" in their target language on a content area of their choice. Language instructors in this workshop will become familiar with the basics of web page creation, and will also consider how to integrate such a project into a content module.
Prior to the conference, registrants will receive a web link so that they can preview the course content, review suggestions for how to collect materials for their projects, and make a selection of suitable non-web and web materials to bring to the workshop. Participants should come to the session with a content area in mind so they are able to integrate links, images, text, and other multimedia into their report projects. The workshop leader will have samples to evaluate and the issue of multilingual fonts will be discussed.
A community space for ESL students to communicate and share their learning experiences.
This course is intended to give participants a broad view of computer-enhanced language learning. It will involve participants in exploring conditions essential for language learning environments, using and discussing existing and potential applications of computer technology in the language classroom, and creating projects to use and test knowledge gained through reading, discussion, and hands-on experience.
